Liverpool 4 Everton 0: Milner stars, Sturridge reaches landmark in derby rout

James Milner starred and Daniel Sturridge scored his 50th goal for Liverpool as they eased to a 4-0 Merseyside derby win over 10-man Everton in the Premier League.

Milner delivered the assists for Liverpool s first two goals in Wednesday s contest, which saw Everton s wait for a first win at Anfield since September 1999 extended.

First Milner supplied the cross for Divock Origi to open the scoring in the 43rd minute with his fifth goal in as many games in all competitions.

Milner was at the heart of things again as Mamadou Sakho made it 2-0 in first-half stoppage time, and the three points were all but sealed after Ramiro Funes Mori was shown a straight red card in the 50th minute for a dreadful challenge on Origi.

Tottenham, Leicester dominate PFA Team of the Year as Ozil, Aguero miss out

Leicester City and Tottenham dominated the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year with four representatives each, as Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin and West Ham star Dimitri Payet completed the XI.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane and De Gea are the only players selected who also made the team in 2014-15.

Salah: Last season´s Champions League anguish ´still hurts´

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has revealed the misery he felt after last year s Champions League final still hurts .

Salah enjoyed a fine debut season at Anfield, scoring 44 goals in all competitions and winning the PFA Players Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year awards, but it ended cruelly in the Champions League final as he was forced off with a shoulder injury 30 minutes in, having tangled with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

The Reds went on to lose the game 3-1 and Salah missed Egypt s first match at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He scored in the next two but did not look at his best as the African nation bowed out with three group-stage defeats out of three.

Liverpool and Salah have a chance at redemption this season having reached th…

Coutinho starts for Barca against Liverpool, Firmino on the bench

Philippe Coutinho was picked to start Barcelona s Champions League semi-final first leg against his former club Liverpool, who selected fellow Brazil international Roberto Firmino on the bench.

Coutinho has garnered mixed reviews since swapping Merseyside for Catalonia in a reported €160million move in January 2018 but, following a stunning goal against Manchester United in the previous round, he was granted a spot alongside Lionel Messi and another ex-Red Luis Suarez in Barca s front three at Camp Nou.

Liverpool s own feted trident were not all named from the start, however, with Firmino among the substitutes after sitting out last Friday s 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town with an ankle knock.

Liam Boyce and James Gray have been called up to the Northern Ireland squad following the withdrawals of Jamie Ward and Martin Paterson.

The 23-year-old has four senior caps to his name and will now be looking to add to that tally and stake a claim for a leading role in his country s UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

Keane wants United’s Fletcher at Sunderland

Roy Keane is not happy with the additions which he has made to his squad this summer and those which he will make in the near future. The former Manchester United captain is looking to strengthen all areas of his team and will look to use his connections and strong relationships to convince some players to join Sunderland.

According to News of the World, one of the players that he wants at his club is former team mate Darren Fletcher. Roy Keane infamously criticized Fletcher just before he was sacked by Manchester United in 2005. Now it seems that Keane s opinion of the hard working Scot has improved.

But, the same report goes on to mention that Keane s bid for Fletcher believed to be worth about £5 million was rejected by Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson is…

Bitter Totti blasts Poulsen

AS Roma captain Francesco Totti blasted Danish player Christian Poulsen, who recently made a move to Serie A rivals Juventus.

The two players first met in a group match at Euro 2008 between Italy and Denmark, and Totti ended up spitting his opponent in his face, with a three-match ban as result.

Poulsen realizes that it won t be easy to gain popularity in Italy after that event, especially since Totti claimed that it was the Dane s behaviour that triggered the whole situation in the first place.

In an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport, Totti gave his view on the matter: He should have worried before. It s easy to talk now. Right after the match he should have gone to the arbitrary commission to tell the truth.

As far as Poulsen s value for Juventu…

Chelsea’s Boulahrouz ‘Cannibal’ goes back to Germany

Chelsea has confirmed that Khalid Boulahrouz has joined Stuttgart after the two clubs agreed on a fee for the Dutch defender. Boulahrouz earned the nickname Cannibal for his uncompromising style while playing last season on loan at Hamburg.

The 26-year old joins Claude Makelele in finalizing his exit from Stamford Bridge but leaves a very different legacy to the veteran Frenchman.

Boulahrouz made only 13 Premier League appearances following his £7 million move from Hamburg in the summer of 2006 and spent last season on loan at Sevilla after failing to impress former manager Jose Mourinho.

A club statement has now confirmed his imminent departure: “Chelsea Football Club has agreed a free for the transfer of Khalid Boulahrouz to VfB Stuttgar…
