Henderson set for new Reds deal

that Liverpool are set to reward Jordan Henderson with a new contract, following the added contribution the midfielder has made so far this season.

The 23 year old initially struggled to adapt to life at Anfield when he switched from Sunderland for £16m in the summer of 2011.

However, he has played all but twenty minutes in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers so far this season, helping them to fourth place in the table with three months left to play.

Henderson’s current contract will have two years left to run come the summer, when he will hope to be a part of Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad, though the club’s hierarchy are keen to put a new deal in place due to his improved form.

Werder Bremen forward Marko Arnautovic could be moving to English Premier League in the next 48 hours, .

The Austrian footballer, who has been heavily linked with a summer exit, was left on the bench in yesterday s 4-1 defeat to Borussia M gladbach, which could suggest boss Robin Dutt is prepared to let him leave.

According to Bild, the 24-year-old has two offers from English Premier League clubs and and he is likely to accept one of the proposals in the coming days.

Werder Bremen seem to be ready to cut their losses on the controversial striker and sell for less than the €6.2 million they paid Twente for his services in the summer of 2010.

Arnautovic has since shown a great deal of potential at Weserstadion, managing 14 goals and 9 assists in 72 Bunde…

Liverpool

Having gone a magnificent run in the English top flight from the start of the campaign right to the break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Liverpool are hopeful they will be able to wrap up their first league title since 1990 soon. Before Everton, only arch-rivals Manchester United managed to win a point against them at Old Trafford. Towards the break, relegation threatened Watford became the first side to go one better and actually beat the Champions League holders.

Arsenal quartet agree new deals

Four Arsenal players have signed new contracts, the Premier League club have officially .

There has been plenty of controversy surrounding David Luiz lately. He was believed to have committed to Arsenal for two years last summer, but it later emerged that it was actually for one year with the club having the option to extend it for one more, which they let expire. It was reported that head coach Mikel Arteta wanted him to stay, but many have questioned that stance after the defender s horrific performance against Manchester City last week. Now the matter has been settled, and the 33-year-old will remain at the Emirates for another season.

Fullback Cedric Soares, who spent the last six months of his Southampton contract on loan at Arsenal, has also penned a long-term dea…

Demba Ba questions Mourinho´s methods after Chelsea dismissal

Demba Ba has given a critical assessment of Jose Mourinho’s methods after the Portuguese was fired by Chelsea on Thursday.

The Shanghai Shenhua striker, 30, worked with Mourinho at Stamford Bridge between 2013 and 2014 but left the club for Besiktas in July 2014.

“I thought Chelsea would continue with Mourinho,” he told RMC. It s rare to see Mourinho manage three years at the same team. And this has confirmed that.

His methods are exhausting, very tiring. He s someone who likes to win and when he loses, you could say that the sky comes crashing down on his head. Things get complicated when he loses because he gets annoyed. It looks like his face is overcome with anger, although this is probably not the case in reality.

It s because…

Nottingham Forest upset Arsenal to clinch safety and hand Manchester City title

Manchester City became Premier League champions after Arsenal lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest, who secured their top-flight status in style.

The Gunners, who were insatiable for most of the campaign, had spent 248 days on top of the table and held an eight-point lead over City in March, but an alarming slide saw them overtaken by Pep Guardiola’s relentless juggernaut.

And Taiwo Awoniyi’s first-half goal for Forest at a raucous City Ground ensured Guardiola’s side will lift the title for a fifth time in six seasons with three games to spare.

It makes no sense to return to Bayern for Alexander Nubel

Alexander Nubel has given his thoughts on his future past the expiration of his current loan spell with AS Monaco.

As things stand, the 25-year-old goalkeeper is expected to return to Bayern Munich where his contract will still have two years left to run, but he has told that it makes no sense for him to return to the Allianz Arena as long as Manuel Neuer is there. He believes it makes no sense for the Bundesliga champions either to have both of them in their ranks, and he s left the door open for a new deal that would have him stay with Monaco.

If Manuel Neuer is still at Bayern, and he does have a contract until 2024, it makes no sense to go back, he said.

There are good options to play at a good level. Everything is open. Monaco are also an option.

Chelsea are being linked with a January bid for Sheffield United defender Harry Maguire, .

The Blues see the youngster as a potential long-term replacement for captain John Terry and they plan to get their hands on him before other interested clubs have time to act.

Chelsea officials plan to open negotiations in the coming weeks, and they are likely to test Sheffield s resolve with a £5 million bid.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also believed to be keen, which is exactly why the Blues hope to wrap up the deal as quickly as possible.

Maguire, 21, joined Sheffield United youth academy in 2006 and he broke into the first team set up during the 2010/2011 season.

Ligue 1: Bordeaux 0 Paris Saint-Germain 2

Laurent Blanc made a winning return to the Stade Chaban-Delmas, as his Paris Saint-Germain side defeated Bordeaux 2-0 on Friday.

The 47-year-old returned to Bordeaux for the first time since departing the club in 2010, and goals from Blaise Matuidi and Lucas Moura ensured he would leave with all three points.

After a lacklustre start PSG settled into the game and took the lead in the 30th minute when Matuidi latched onto a sublime Zlatan Ibrahimovic pass to finish at the second attempt.

And the game was sewn up in the second half, after a failed offside trap from the Bordeaux defence allowed the outstanding Lucas to go past the goalkeeper and score.

PSG handed a league debut to full-back Lucas Digne, but Edinson Cavani had to settle for a place among the substitu…
