Arsenal winger Theo Walcott admits he was reduced to tears by Fabio Capello s decision to drop him from England s World Cup squad.
Walcott had been confident he would go to South Africa with England after being named in the provisional 30-man group, but he was surprisingly axed from Capello s final party.
The 21-year-old was playing golf with a friend and his cousin when Capello called to give him the news which left him crying tears of frustration.
I had the day off so I was on the golf course and I got the phone call, Walcott told The Sun.
He just said, I m sorry. I m not going to bring you to South Africa, but I ll see you in 2012 for the Euros.
I didn t know what to say at all. He said, have a good break and good luck. I ll see you soon. …
Teddy Sheringham is not concerned Mason Greenwood is merely playing a supporting role to Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United, believing it is better to play out of position than watch from the sidelines.
Greenwood broke into the United team as a winger but has long been considered their future at centre-forward.
The 19-year-old started in that position against Leeds United on the opening day of the Premier League season and scored in a 5-1 win.
However, five of his subsequent six starts in all competitions have seen Greenwood stationed on the right wing, while he also occupied the flank after coming off the bench in the EFL Cup defeat to West Ham.
Greenwood has not added to his tally of three goals this term since Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford.

According to , PSV Eindhoven s Hirving Lozano would cost any club interested in his services €60million.

While hurt and disappointed after a Champions League semi-final berth was snatched away at the death, Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was in an upbeat mood, highlighting the fact that club president Antonio Percassi always targets 40 points to secure Serie A safety each season.
Atalanta have been the Cinderella story of Italian and European football this term, breaking records during their third-place finish in Serie A and memorable run to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Gasperini s Atalanta – competing in their first Champions League last-eight fixture – were moments away from an historic semi-final on Wednesday, however, Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain completed a stunning turnaround to prevail 2-1 in Lisbon.

Bayern Munich have signed Serdar Tasci from Spartak Moscow on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent come June.
The Bundesliga leaders were in the market for defensive reinforcements after losing Jerome Boateng to injury, with the Germany international potentially out of action for three months due to an adductor problem.
Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated at the weekend they were unlikely to bring in a new defender, but an apparent change of heart has resulted in Tasci s arrival at the Allianz Arena.
We are delighted that we got the opportunity to sign a player like Serdar for Bayern, sporting director Matthias Sammer told the club s official website.

World football s governing body FIFA on Tuesday gave Iraqi football chiefs a one year deadline to settle their differences after July s elections to the Iraqi Football Association fell into disarray.
FIFA lifted its suspension on the IFA on March 19 after a solution was reportedly found to a spat over alleged government interference.
But about a week before a new IFA election was due to take place, soldiers sought to arrest contested association chief Hussein Said and three other senior officials on corruption charges.
Two rival general assemblies were then held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and in the northern city of Erbil on July 24, prompting the IFA to postpone elections of a new executive committee.
Under these circumstances, the case was referred …
Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann believes Jude Bellingham should have been sent off in the 2-2 Der Klassiker draw against Borussia Dortmund.
Nagelsmann s side went into a two-goal lead after strikes from Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane, but a late comeback changed the course of the game, with Youssoufa Moukoko and a last-minute Anthony Modeste header levelling for the hosts.
The game could have been different, however, had Bellingham been shown a red card for a challenge on Alphonso Davies that left the Bayern defender with a suspected concussion.
Bellingham was not booked for the foul, where a high boot struck the head of the Canada international, and Nagelsmann believes the wrong action was taken – where a yellow would have been his second of the game,…
