Chile 1-2 Brazil: Luiz Henrique late show salvages victory

Brazil fought back from a goal down to score an 89th-minute winner that completed a 2-1 comeback win over Chile.

The hosts went ahead in the second minute of Thursday s World Cup qualifier in Santiago when a looping header from Eduardo Vargas went past Ederson in goal, although it was an effort that should arguably have been saved.

While Chile had chances to extend their lead and had claims for a penalty in the first half, Brazil equalised in stoppage time through a close-range header from Igor Jesus.

The Selecao controlled much of the second half as they went in search of a winner, and they were able to find it a minute from time. Botafogo winger Luiz Henrique cut in from the right and bent a shot past the goalkeeper to earn his country three points.

Bayern appoint new goalkeeping coach after Neuer argument around Tapalovic sacking

Bayern Munich have appointed Michael Rechner as their new goalkeeping coach following the controversial dismissal of Toni Tapalovic.

The Bundesliga champions sacked Tapalovic, who was said to have endured a difficult relationship with head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

But Tapalovic was close to club captain Manuel Neuer, with whom he had worked for more than a decade.

Neuer, who is out injured for the rest of the season, was angered by his departure and expressed that frustration in an interview with The Athletic, which prompted criticism from several senior officials at Bayern.

The club have now identified Rechner as the man who will come in to work initially with Yann Sommer, who was signed following Neuer s injury.

Rechner had been Hoffenheim s fir…

Tom Davies to leave Everton after turning down new contract

Everton midfielder Tom Davies will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month after turning down a new deal, the club have announced.

The 24-year-old former academy player, who made his debut aged 17 in April 2016, will exit Goodison Park in search of regular playing time after featuring only 19 times in the Premier League last season.

Manager Sean Dyche was keen for Davies to stay and fight for a place in the team as Everton look to avoid a third straight top-flight relegation scrap next campaign.

Instead, he will become the third first-team player to move on at the end of their deals, after it was confirmed earlier in June that Andros Townsend and Yerry Mina would not be offered new contracts.

´It´s not the end of the world´ – Harry Kane adamant England remain on course despite snore draw wit

Harry Kane insisted England s drab performance against the United States was not the end of the world for us and kept the team in a strong position at Qatar 2022.

Captain Kane missed a late chance to make a breakthrough when he planted a header well wide as the game at Al Bayt Stadium finished goalless.

The USA were the better side for large parts of the game, but they passed up half-chances and England survived scares before improving in the closing stages.

It wasn t our best performance, for sure, Kane told ITV. We had some good spells with the ball and created some good positions, but we just didn t have the final product today.

It s a great clean sheet, it puts us in a great position in the group.

Barcelona 4-0 Athletic Bilbao: Dembele registers hat-trick of assists as Blaugrana cruise

Ousmane Dembele scored and assisted three others as Barcelona warmed up for Wednesday s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich by thrashing Athletic Bilbao 4-0 at Camp Nou.

The result moved Barca back to within three points of leaders Real Madrid in the LaLiga standings, with Los Blancos having moved clear with a 3-1 win over Sevilla on Saturday.

Camacho backs Del Bosque to stay with Spain beyond Euro 2016

Vicente del Bosque should stay on as Spain head coach beyond Euro 2016, according to former Real Madrid star Jose Antonio Camacho.

The future of the 65-year-old remains shrouded in doubt as he has not yet given a definitive answer on whether he will continue his eight-year spell with the national team beyond their title defence in France this year.

But Camacho, who reached the final of Euro 84 as a player before guiding them to the quarter-finals of World Cup 2002 as coach, says Del Bosque remains the best man for the role.

The coach who I like the most now is Vicente del Bosque and I think he certainly has to continue with the national team, he said at a coaching conference in Madrid.

Spain s World Cup defence came to an early end two years ago as they …

Pochettino returning to Spurs like Keegan back at Newcastle, warns Carragher

Mauricio Pochettino would be making a mistake by going back to Tottenham as Jamie Carragher believes a second Spurs stint would be akin to Kevin Keegan s Newcastle United return.

Pressure is building on Tottenham coach Antonio Conte after a desperate run that has ended their hopes of winning silverware this season.

After back-to-back Premier League victories lifted Spurs into the top four, they crashed out of the FA Cup at Sheffield United, lost at Wolves in the league and then exited the Champions League following a dismal goalless draw against Milan.

With Conte s contract up at the end of the season, it appears likely the former Juventus, Chelsea and Inter boss will soon be departing Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
