Costa linked with Atleti return

that Atletico Madrid are keen on re-signing Diego Costa from Chelsea.

The twenty-seven year old looks set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, and a return to Spain looks likely though French champions Paris Saint Germain are also keeping an eye on the situation.

Costa swapped Madrid for London in the summer of 2014, and has since racked up seventy-one appearances in all competitions, scoring thirty-five goals while he was part of the squad that won the Premier League and League Cup double last season.

However, with the glory also comes controversy and the Spain international is growing frustrated with the reputation he has gained since playing in England.

Atleti lost the first leg of their Champions League quarter final to Barcelona o…

Competition: International friendly
Market: Scotland to win against England

Depay not blaming Van Gaal for his Manchester United struggles

Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has refused to blame former manager Louis van Gaal for his underwhelming performances in 2015-16 and is confident he will soon be back to his best.

The Netherlands international failed to live up to high expectations at Old Trafford after joining from PSV and spent the majority of the second half of the season on the bench.

Depay does not want to point the finger at anyone, though, and has vowed to give his all in pre-season in order to win over new boss Jose Mourinho.

It s never nice to be criticised, but it s part of the game and I have to deal with it. The season did not go as planned and that hurt my confidence a bit, the 22-year-old told Fox Sport.

I do not want to blame the manager for it. I played some goo…

Shevchenko tells AC Milan to sign Yarmolenko

AC Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko has urged the Serie A side to make a move for Dynamo Kiev star Andriy Yarmolenko.

The San Siro outfit missed out on European football following an underwhelming 2015-16 campaign and are expected to bring in a number of new players ahead of next season.

They have been linked with a selection of high-profile names in recent weeks and Shevchenko believes Yarmolenko would be a good fit for Milan.

In Ukraine we have Yarmolenko, who I like a lot, Shevchenko told Milan Channel.

He plays wide on the right but he can also play on the left and he will become a good player.

I would point Milan in his direction.

Yarmolenko has a contract with Dynamo until June 2020.

The Ukraine international, 26, has previ…

Van der Vaart wants Betis exit

Rafael van der Vaart has set his sights on a Real Betis exit during the close-season following a disappointing first season with the club.

Having left Hamburg for Spain ahead of the 2015-16 season, Van der Vaart made just two league starts for his new club as they finished 10th in La Liga.

The former Real Madrid, Tottenham and Hamburg man even described being at the lowest point of his career after not making the Betis squad for a Copa del Rey clash with Sevilla in January.

While injury hampered his ability to settle in during his early months at Estadio Benito Villamarin, Van der Vaart has grown increasingly frustrated at a lack of opportunities.

But, while the Dutchman insists he is not content to collect a salary for sitting on the sidelines, he conced…

Bale eager for Zidane to stay at Real Madrid

Gareth Bale is eager for Zinedine Zidane to remain as head coach of Real Madrid beyond this season.

The former France international, who succeeded Rafael Benitez in January, stated last month that he was unsure over his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Bale, however, has described playing under Zidane as an honour and hopes he will be given the chance to continue in his role next season.

It s an incredible experience, he told UEFA media representatives. He was one of the best players in the world and to have him as a coach is an honour. He s now demonstrating that he is a great coach. I m really enjoying working with him and hopefully it continues.

Bale admits it has been a personally frustrating campaign due to some niggling injury concerns, …

Adelaide United 2-2 Western Sydney Wanderers: Goodwin strike seals A-League Finals spot

Adelaide United booked their place in the A-League Finals with a 2-2 draw against 10-man Western Sydney Wanderers at Coopers Stadium thanks to Craig Goodwin s goal.

The hosts required only a point to make certain of a top-six finish and they were ahead inside 11 minutes when Ziggy Gordon turned Ryan Strain s shot into his own net.

However, Wanderers had lost only one of their last eight league meetings away at United and were back on level terms thanks to a Bruce Kamau shot that deflected in off Strain.

Carl Robinson s side had been eliminated from the top-six picture before kick-off yet they found themselves ahead against United through Graham Dorrans low drive with half an hour played.

A red card for Tass Mourdoukoutas six minutes later following a reck…

It means Gregg Berhalter s USA have qualified for the first-ever CONCACAF Nations League decider, where they will face either Mexico or Costa Rica in Denver on Sunday.

USA had the first genuine chance of the game when Giovanni Reyna jinked past two defenders inside the box but dragged his 10th-minute shot wide at the far post.

Honduras forward Anthony Lozano had an audacious long-range shot saved by USA and Manchester City goalkeeper Zack Steffen shortly…
